·          Substation Installation: The substation installation construction work includes installation of the above grade conduits, substation structures, capacitor banks, conductors, fittings, and miscellaneous equipment. Installation of the below grade substation infrastructures currently in progress during the Phase 1 construction. The Contractor shall be responsible for furnishing and installing all other materials necessary for the complete substation in accordance with the design drawings, documentation, and the requirements of this specification.  

·          Electrical Construction: This work will consist of installation of control and relay panels, DC batteries, and AC equipment inside the control building. Panel-to-panel wiring, wiring between Gas Insulated Switchgear (GIS) and relay panels, and wiring between control panels and outdoor substation equipment are also included in the scope of work.  


·          Specialty Construction: The Specialty Construction scope of work includes interception of SMUD’s existing 115kV underground transmission lines (2-High Pressure Fluid Filled (HPFF) and 1-XLPE) and installation of connections to the new 115kV GIS equipment. The two HPFF transmission lines will be intercepted (spliced outside substation) and routed into the control building basement. An HPFF to XLPE cable transition splice shall be furnished and installed by the Contractor in the control building basement. The XLPE cable shall be routed from the transition splices and terminated into the GIS equipment. The Contractor will also install the new STG-STD XLPE transmission line including installation of conduit, splicing manhole, intercepting existing duct bank, cable removal, new cable installation and splicing.
