Posting Summary

The Contractor shall furnish all project management, supervision, labor, materials, equipment, and incidentals necessary to accomplish the work in accordance with the Contract. The work generally consists of various building or site renovation tasks and associated work to be performed at SMUD’s various facilities primarily during non-business hours.  

This is a task bonded contract and the Contractor shall provide estimates per the TC’s to make additions, changes, and renovations to various SMUD facilities sites and buildings, including obtaining any necessary permits.  

Except for Contractor licensed design/build systems, all designs, plans, and specifications will be prepared by either SMUD facilities staff or SMUD contracted design professionals. The Contractor will be furnished appropriate documentation as specified in Technical Conditions (TC’s) for each separate task, and the Contractor will review them with SMUD’s Facilities Engineer. Any changes after initial approval must be coordinated and approved by SMUD per the TC’s before performing work. Any required permits specific to the work will be held by the Contractor.  SMUD will reimburse permits on a direct pass through.  

The following is a partial list of the various types of work that will be needed:  

i.                  New roof construction of existing facilities;  

ii.                Removal and Replacement of existing roof with like for like or another design specified material;  

iii.              Emergency roof repairs with-in 8 hours of request;  

iv.              Types of materials  

a.       Built-Up Bituminous Roofing  

b.      Built-Up Coal Tar Roofing   

c.       Single-Ply Membrane Roofing   

d.      Cold Applied Liquid Coating  

e.       Modified Bitumen Membrane Roofing  

f.       Flashing and Sheet Metal  

g.      PVC Systems  

h.      TPO Systems Coal Tar System  

i.        EPDM Roof System   

j.        Polyester Membrane System  

k.      Modified Bitumen Roof System   

l.        Asphalt Roof System  

m.     Fiberglass Shingle System  


SMUD Security will require background checks and badging of the Contractor’s supervisory personnel and trade workers in critical areas of facilities.  

The work is further described in the Technical Conditions.
