Online peer-to-peer support is a technology enabled delivery mode for peer support that provides an anonymous, safe, and welcoming virtual community for members providing support to each other and strengthening each other’s mental health and wellness. Clinical moderators encourage community members to engage in the virtual community and monitor the online discussion to ensure the safety of the users. Nova Scotians aged 16+ will have access to the Service 24/7. The Service will include clinically moderated online chats and discussion forums, self-management activities, resources, and education.

NSHA-MHAP supports a stepped-care approach so that mental health and addictions supports and resources are delivered at the right time, at the right level of intensity, by the right provider. The Service will be one of the services in the Nova Scotia Mental Health and Addictions system of services and supports. The results of this RFP process will enhance opportunities for Nova Scotians to access electronic mental health and addictions (“eMHA”) services.
