Posting Summary

SMUD’s Distribution Planning department is looking to acquire a software to be the main tool for geo spatial short- and medium- term load allocation and forecasting to identify capacity and N-1 contingency shortfalls. This software shall be setup in a way where it can keep track of upcoming proposed load transfer switching, new loads, new substations, and distributed energy resources (DERs) and be integrated with Geographic Information System (GIS) and distribution load flow simulation software.

Our goal is to implement software that can interface with other enterprise systems including Advanced Metering Infrastructure (AMI), Supervisory Control and Data Acquisition (SCADA), Capacitor Control system, GIS, and Synergi to gather pertinent peak load information and present this data in a user-friendly format that can then be used for additional analysis via simulation software or for geo spatial short- and medium- term load forecasting analysis within the tool itself.

The tool will utilize additional parameters as inputs such as economic indicators, real estate data, census tract data, climate data, weather patterns to provide additional insights into geo spatial load forecasting and system analysis and the system’s installed and forecast distributed energy resource (DER) adoption data.
