The purpose of this RFP and any resulting contract award is to solicit offers for a qualified Vendor to redesign and implement an updated NCpedia website for the State Library of North Carolina (“SLNC”), an agency of the NC Department of Natural and Cultural Resources (“Department”). The current NCpedia website functions in a Drupal 7 environment and is dated in both format and features. The goal is to design and implement an updated website, improving the design and features, and migrating existing content, that will improve public access to NCpedia’s contents and collections.

The updated NCpedia website should function in a Drupal 9 environment that can run on an existing Linux, Apache, MariaDB, and PHP (LAMP) server stack. The website should be scalable over a wide range of devices from desktop computers to laptops, to tablets, and to cell phones. The website should also be compliant with WCAG 2.0 standards and conform to Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA) and best practice guidelines. The new website will be hosted on Microelectronics Center of North Carolina (MCNC) and will serve as the public's portal to NCpedia. The selected vendor will be given access to one of the virtual servers in order to set up Drupal 9 instance. Approximately 8,500 pages will need to be migrated to the new site.
