Posting Summary
The Contractor shall provide electrical services tasks as described in the Scope of Services below supporting SMUD’s generation facilities. The primary focus of this contract will be on (1) cathodic protection design/testing/assessment of underground gas pipelines, (2) grounding design/studies/testing of powerhouses and substations, (3) cable testing/assessment of 480V/4.16kV/69kV cables, and (4) arc flash studies of generation powerhouses and substations. Other services may be needed but not limited to the following:·        Develop calculations to estimate the electrician’s HV arc flash exposure in switchyards, for audit of minimum approach distance ·        Procedure review for application and specification of temporary protective grounds (TPG)·        Hydroelectric generator breaker interrupt capacity audit·        Audit/peer review the electric facilities safety plan·        Review of 3rd party arc flash studies·        Per regulatory requirements, review various arc flash studies and models of SMUD facilities at intervals not to exceed 5 years. Work with SMUD staff to update existing arc flash hazard labels as required.·        Draft Electrical Hazard Analysis memos for specialty SMUD equipment or operating conditions. Reference and interpret industry standard electrical safety standards like CalOSHA Title 8 and NFPA 70E.   ·        Review and/or develop technical specifications for various electrical equipment IE transformers, switchgear, MV and LV circuit breakers, etc.·        Have the ability to produce AutoCAD deliverables in SMUD drawing format·        SMUD Power Generation design change notice (DCN) review·        Transformer test review, design review, witnessing factory acceptance tests, field diagnostics·        Generator testing, crawl-thru visual inspection, reporting, and failure mode assessment·        Travel to SMUD facilities is required. The purpose of travel could range from in-person meetings to site visits for inspection and assessment.  ·        Training services (in-person and virtual):Ø  Medium and low voltage cable aging management and testingØ  Grounding fundamentals and substation groundingØ  Transformer aging management and testing basicsØ  Lightning basics and mitigation strategiesØ  Asset management and condition assessment Ø  High voltage cable testing Ø  T&D Equipment Failure Analysis
