The Nova Scotia Health Authority Cancer Care Program (CCP) is responsible for cancer programs and services across the province.  Cancer screening is about preventing cancer or finding it early when treatment is most effective. Nova Scotia has three organized cancer screening programs.  This RFP focuses on the fulfillment services for two of them: The Colon Cancer Prevention Program and the Cervical Cancer Prevention Program.  The Colon Cancer Prevention Program mails home screening kits to all Nova Scotians aged 50 to 74 with the goal of preventing cancer or finding it early when treatment is most effective.  The Cervical Cancer Prevention Program focuses on decreasing the incidence of invasive cervical cancer. The program monitors cytologic abnormalities and administers a provincial safety net wherein Pap smear providers are notified when it appears that a patient with a significant abnormality has not been appropriately managed.
